Gallery-based Residencies 2005-2007

Take Over Residency, Pump House Gallery, London, 2007

2007

The Artists, Jon Ford, Fiona Jardine, David Kefford, Pil and Galia Kollectiv, Robert Stone were selected to 'take over' the Pump House Gallery on the lakeside in Battersea Park as their studio for five weeks. The gallery was open to the public, providing a unique ‘behind the scenes’ opportunity for the visitors to see the artists in action as they experimented with new ideas and materials. Chosen from over 190 applicants, by David Thorp and Nigel Cooke, via an open submission, the selected artists encompassed a variety of practices ranging from painting, sound and video, sculpture and live art. An informal exhibition took place during the final week of the residency.

David Kefford used the opportunity to make intuitive marks directly onto the surface of the gallery walls using ordianry 'non-art' materials such as soap, baby oil, TCP, and coffee, which all have specific reference to the human body
